Here is my latest creation.  It is an old
heating oil drum.  They used theses big
tanks to hold oil to heat homes before
natural gas was piped to each house.  I
cut a door in the front, use iron bars that
are placed across the door and bolt
shut to seal it.  I have lined the drum
with 6 inches of fiber fax which can
withstand temperatures up to 2400
degrees  F.  I use a propane torch as a
heat source, that goes up to 150,000
BTU's.  I place the torch so that the
flames enter the bottom of the kiln.  The
exhaust exits the kiln through a 8 X 8
hole at the bottom rear, the exhaust
travels through a brick tunnel to a 6 inch
stove pipe.  I have fired this kiln 6 times
as of July 07.
